Yep, Songkran is one big water party, full of drunks, crazies, lost foreigners, and people who just don't want to leave their homes… Songkran is for everyone!

(In the middle of Silom Road, there's this interesting statue of two kids kicking the crap out of each other. I'm not an expert on public art, but is this really "good"? Are we telling kids that if they strap on a pair of boxing gloves, they have the green light to beat each other to a bloody pulp? There must be a deeper meaning than what I'm thinking… I hope there is.)

(Inside the "Cave in the middle of town" in Khorat… the entrance was nice and the cave brought some relief to the hot hot hot sun. I have to apologize for not being able to take pictures of the festivities, but it was either pictures for your enjoyment or keeping my camera from getting wet and dying on me.

(Walking down the new boulevard in the heart of Khorat. A nice walk but I think it would have been nicer with more trees around to provide shading, especially for my bald head)

Only 3-4 hours away by bus, Khorat was a nice 3-day trip to get out of Bangkok and to enjoy some "fresh air". Little did we realize that splashing water is only a lot of fun when its really hot outside… but as our luck would have it, it rained once we started to throw some water around. According to Mang, it has never rained during the SongKran festivities, which is one of the hottest times of the year. But it's weird though, because Bangkok has been raining on and off for the past couple of weeks. There was even a flash flood that killed some people in the South of Thailand. Climate change… hmmm….

(We made our way to the local lake/pond where people go for exercise. We took a break from walking to do some painting. A great idea to get people to enjoy the arts, explore their creativity, and spend time outdoors. Can you guess which paintings are ours?
