Recap of a red month

The month of March was a pretty interesting one. Moving ahead with EyeSee2013 – my photo of the day project – 2013’s third month was a start of capturing color in my photos (I talked about the process in a previous post). Red was an easy color to start with as it’s pretty much everywhere because it represents so much to us psychologically and sociologically.

Red is the color of extremes. Its the color of passionate love, seduction, violence, danger, anger, and adventure. Our prehistoric ancestors saw red as the color of fire and blood energy and primal life forces and most of reds symbolism today arises from its powerful associations in the past. As usual, what started off as a passionate and engaging theme started to become very difficult as the days went on. There were typical things that I could see around me that’s red (think stop sign, tomato, furniture, signs), but as the end of the month drew closer, it required a bit of creativity and opening of my eyes to find ‘red’ that wasn’t what I would normally see.
